I dont think there is a great deal the Indians can teach us about driving or the roads in general.
Manufacturing cars would be a different matter-------

This made me laugh!
There is, and I can confirm this, NOTHING, that the Indians can teach us about driving other than how to kill each other with motor vehicles while not being killed yourself!
Here's a video for your amusement!

Why that line about manufacturing cars though?

BTT:
I guess a year doesn't make a difference at all, its the NCB that boosts the discount up. No way out.

I was thinking though, is it possible to buy scoot insurance for a year, get the NCB on that and then use it for a car?

Madness innit?
The manufacturing bit was put in because they now own Land Rover and Jaguar and are doing very well at making and selling the things, even if their skills dont extend to driving them or organising a sane transport system

From my experience age has made a massive difference. I'm nearly 18 and my dad is 45. I have over 1 years no claims bonus and when trying to get insured on a zx6r they wanted just over £9000. My dad got his bike license a year after me and with no previous experience or no claims got fully comp on the zx6r for around £160. Wether a year older will make much difference I'm not too sure but it cuts £350 from my car insurance being 18 rather then 17

Age is only good when it comes to the compulsory excess. It is all judged on your NCB, how long you've held your license, the bike you have, the risk category of your post code, what you use it for (S,D,P,C) what group the bike is etc etc. A lot of factors aren't in your control, so it is pot luck as to what price you get. Shop around, get a good deal and go from there.

No. The NCB isn't transferable between bikes/cars/lorries etc as they're different licences.

Turns out even the day before my birthday starting my cover on my birthday saved me 160 quid. 11.45pm-00:00 was that much cheaper.

And the ongoing benefit is that your renewal will be the same day next year, and probably cheaper for it.

All insured now and the grand total of saving for waiting a few weeks was.... £174!

Nice birthday present. Unsure how they think I am magically a better rider but I can't complain.
