But there's loads of Ninja ones since people pull them out of race bikes.

Andrew, does your bike have the standard battery box fitted or does it have an undertray that replaces it? Can't remember...
Rictus said they start becoming a tad soft at 25,000 but most will do alot more. I've spoken to a guy on westgate hill who's done 70,000 and noticed no change - it'll depend whether you do a ton over speed bumps and such.

The newer gixxer shock doesn't have that piggy back lump on one end - that's my technical explanation.

I would go for that shock. Offer the guy outside ebay. For one, my shock looked f**ked (like that) but cleaned up real good and now looks new. Second, and a big second, that lot has come from a broken bike (probably) - not someone who has replaced a knackered shock for new and selling the knackered shock on eBay.

He wouldn't notice though, since it's happened over the course of 70000 miles The problem with bits from Ebay or breakers is you have no idea what mileage of bike they're off or what use they've had...

Isn't the spring rate too soft? I've lost count of the number of these posts but I thought that was the upshot, and you either had to choose a new spring or bodge the SV spring onto it. What's the real truth?

The spring is soft but I've found perfect at 11.5 stone and half-setting on preload.

On max preload it should be good upto 13 stone, presuming no passenger of course.

Did you calculate static sag properly when adjusting the preload?
