Yup, 3/4 system, so I'm trying to take off just the back half.

The mid-point from the rear cylinder has released easily, it's the one from the front cylinder that is right under the bike that is giving me problems.

Everythings loose, no hidden bolts still tight etc... it's just been on there since 1999 so I guess I shouldn't be surprised it's being stubborn.

I'm sure it isn't my eyes playing tricks on me, it is rocking ever so slightly, so at this rate it'll be off by next weekend.

So far I've resorted to more WD40 and tugging... rather than planting a screw driver against it and whacking it with a lump hammer! But only just!

have you ried removing it from the front? It's possible to get the whole system off in one piece, and you could probably work on the join more easily from there (also, if you can remove the front pipe, bolt the rear back up and try rotating the front bit as a handle)

If it really won't come to bits PM me, I've got a front header somewhere...

Yeah, releasing and rotating the downpipe was going to be a last resort so I'll see if I can get another gasket in just in case.

If it all goes pear shaped by next weekend I'll drop you a line. Thanks NW.

i just pulled and pulled at it, (nearly pulled the sv on top of me) the front down pipe was seized on, so no cnace of gettin it of,

eventually i won! another 10 minute 2.5 hour job! .

Keep trying, and remove the front one if you can! will mke life easier!

I did exactly the same thing on my K3 at the end of last year with a 3/4 GForce system. Any stuck bolts got coated in WD40 and heated up by running engine for a few minutes and then they came right off.

You'll be well pleased when the new exhaust is on though - trust me! Oh, and take the baffle out too and you be extra chuffed

Got gaskets in yesterday, including some spares for the front manifold end in case I have to resort to thaking that off and twisting the begger.

It's been a tad nippy out in the garage, even with the heater on so I've been snuggled up on my sofa in t'evenings.

Also, until I have a good clear out and shuffle round down there (two bikes, one MG, a trailer and three gazeebos!) I barely have room to swing a mouse, let alone a cat!

Weekend job.
