I completed my profile. I live in Indianapolis. Bikes are real big in Indianapolis and the cops rarely give you a hard time in Indy. One time I was doing about 100 on the highway. A cop pulled up behind me nodded his finger and took off. I don't know what it is but the cops give the bikers hella slack.

So I am a newbie but in 4 months I put about 4000 miles on my bike. I've been riding it at least three times a month . I didn't start doing wheelies until October. I've probably done at least 100 and my balance feels just fine. I only had about 3 close calls but since then I've been pretty comfortable.

Somebody mentioned the SV650 had crap components. Is this true?

I came out in 2002. I currently work as a Product Specialist selling to Enterprise Accounts for Hewlett Packard. I am very thankful because the IT and Technical sales market is flooded and I landed a pretty decent gig.

Although the SV650 is an excellent bike you really do get what you pay for. Unless you get a cheap second hand one in which case you get a-lot for what you pay for

Forgive me but I don't understand. What do you guys mean? Will I just be roll'n down the street one day and all the sudden my bike just falls apart? What type of things will happen to an SV650 that wouldn't happen to a Ducati or GSXR? I understand it's not as powerful but it has all the power I really need. What specifically will crap out that wouldn't crap out on a different bike?

It is a budget bike, this is most apparent in the lousy suspension (easily fixed though). Also, if neglected, the SV can be prone to rusting. Take care of it then it'll be ok.

Oh, I don't think the SV takes very well to being wheelied either

Actually, if you ride it all year round and through the bad weather, keeping it in pristine condition is nigh on impossible.

Cool

My SV is still looking in pretty good shape after a year. Well, dispite the crashing of course.
