Just done the same thing mate. Passed test March 2nd and got Sv Nekked on 20th \/ . The jump from 125cc to 650cc isn't all that huge. Ok it'll leave you're old bike standing, BUT the powers useable and friendly I.e. It doesn't want to rip your arms off if you wind it on .

As for insurance try Motorcycle direct. They specialize in young newbies like us (Althought i'm 19). I got TPFT on a 99' naked for a little over £300 . I'll post the number when i find it. They're always in MCN etc.

Good luck with the exams

I jumped from a Honda CBR125R (ha ha) to a restricted SV650s K5, and it was a bit of a jump!

Got used to it with in a few miles though and the ride home from the dealer was easy.

I feel a lot safer on the SV !!!

Do It!

Sounds good guys, thanks for the info, it helps more because you've had the jump from 125 to the sv. Thanks
Also just wondering is it possible to get a knee down on the Sv? i'm a bit of a fan doing it on my Sachs and like to corner at quite a lean :P

My advice, Don't. YET. the extra weight you WILL feel going through corners takes time to get used to. Edge it over slowly bit by bit. I can scrape both pegs at the moment but both sliders are as of yet untouched
You'll get there in the end
