eek.
Sorry Yams, that wasn't very nice at all, I was blinded by my own immediate feelings.

Apologies, thank you for all the info you gave and sorry for pushing all the work at you.
Good luck with the Ebay sale, I'll be watching!
Again, apologies, severe lack of good form.

Right, not the brillo pad then...
Any suggestions? It's just everyday muck combined with oil and road crap.
The swingarm has oil all over it too...

But, I've just been out for a blast and wow. Don't these go like rockets?!
The 'sorst is FANTASTIC! I haven't used over 7k revs in any gear yet, 5 seems about my limit at the moment.
I have so much more to learn...roundabouts here I come.

Don't worry too much mate, looks like you got a better bike for the money anyway with all those cool trick bits.. that's pretty much the same sort of SV as I wanted (naked one in black) when I was looking for one.. deffo one of the nicest ones IMO. Have fun!

Northwind, thanks for you advice [i.e "it might be something innocent"] the oil has disappeared. From the outside of the bike not the inside!!
Just when I thought I'd found an ENORMOUS oil leak, I found out it was run off from the scottoiler!

THV thanks for the info about the forks, they look like chubby little wheels [compared to the RS125 I had two years ago...]. I'll have a butchers at the GSXR1100N clocks, see if I can find them on ebay, the speedo drive is still on the LHS axle, just need the right clocks.

Richwill68- Thanks bud! So...much...power! on the m25 today was like sticking my body through a time warp. 85mph feels like a force 10!

Is there a thread for the next big SV forum ride out??

thanks, BN

Hi Brand New,

Yeah, the SV is a blast, ain't it!? Glad you like it. It's the best allrounder I've ever owned, and I owned quite a few bikes in my time. Treat her nice and she'll teach you loads!

Now then, cleaning.... Gungy swingarm - use paraffin and a washing up brush for gently scrubbing the greasy stuff off. Same for forks, be sparing and try not to get any on the discs/pads. Finish off with a good vehicle shampoo and really hot water. Rinse with hot water and there you have it; a lovely , shiney clean bike!

You could probably get bandit 1200 clocks to work, but they're rocking horse dung at the mo.
