But the looking good bits important

Sorry to hear of your troubles. I'm trouble free on my piece of european engineering at the moment but am clutching every piece of wood around as I write this.

Is there any history of Ducatis needing ventilation for the clutch? Do you think its because with all thsoe mountains you work it harder then some might be worked?

Rich..I have started to really think about this point. A mix of the curvey roads I ride and the heat must have some affect on a dry clutch me thinks.
The mechanic has called to tell me that the selector fork is bent or damaged and he has ordered a new one. Not sure whether this will be here quickly or not! If it is already in Spain not too bad,otherwise......

He can only begin to investigate further when he has fitted that as there could still be an issue with the clutch.

I think that for peace of mind I am going to fit a vented cover anyway as there are some quite sexy one's out there. The next step I think is to pop a slipper clutch on her and will look to do this in the short term I like the look of the Sigma one and aftermarket options apparently do a far better job than the Ducati one,(why are you not surprised at that?!)

It's going to be a boring weekend, no Moto GP and no bike to ride. Hey but then again just 100 metres from my house are hundreds of Tanga wearing beauties on the beach everyday! Could be tempted to dig out my Bermudas!

YIPPPEEEEE!

Jose the mechanic rang me this morn to tell me that the gearbox part he was waiting for had arrived and he was presently fitting it all back together.

Rang him at 7.00pm tonight to be told that all was well, the clutch only needed a minor adjustment and he has carried out some basic service checks and adjustements.

He is to put the job through as a warranty repair also! This as you can imagine comes as a big relief. He has told me not to worry about the major service until the Termi kit finally gets it's sorry a+ss to him!

He has been very understanding of my concerns over the warranty and very helpful which has allowed me to remain philosophical about the whole thing. Glad I have not got annoyed with him as he has a reputation of being an absolute ace Ducati mechanic and I need to stay on his good side!
This bike in the last 2000km has had some 140 euros worth of oil put in it! You think it is being treated right?(Change when I got it and again now after having to get in to the gearbox!)

But like they say on the L'Oreal ads...she's worth it!

She's home. A little bit dirtier than she normally would be due to her exertions on 2 recovery vehicles and then time spent in the workshop!

The part that had gone was a small flimsy return spring! One of the legs that creates the return action had just vanished!

Usual post service problem with the clutch now! It bites right at the end! But contrary to my normal feelings, due to dry clutch and the fact that the mechanic rides a Ducati himself, I am going to re learn my clutch action.

He told me that there is a known problem with the 749S in respect of cutting out at lights and junctions etc. for no reason. He said bare with it and all will be fettled when he hands me an almost different bike altogether when he has set it up with the Termi's!

He did mention that there is some technical problem at Termignoni that has created the delay in zorsts being delivered??
