If I've got to go out then it's proper gear 90% of the time.
Only occasionally, rarely, on the hotest of days will I unzip my alpinestar two peice and replace the trousers with decent jeans... and that's ONLY if I'm going the 2.5 miles into work/to a mate's house through town. Anything else and it's full kit. I would like to wear full kit all the time, but my legs (which haven't see the light of day for about 15 years ![]() ![]() If I'm riding for purest pleasure, then I'll simply wait until it's cooler in the evening - which is conveniently when most 'Sunday' drivers are off the roads and tucked up in a chair with a cuppa and a biscuit! ![]() I don't particularly like hot weather at the best of time anyway. ![]() |

full kit all the time, if its to hot i may replace jacket of my two piece with a summer jacket, but always wit protection

Always. I know what can happen without them. And I'm not talking about me either. A friend of mine went out for "a quick" spin on his bike. I visited him later in hospital. He was minus most of the skin on his back, arms and legs. He went out with a t-shirt and jeans on. It quite simply looked like someone had gone over him with a cheese grater.
On the way back from work today, plenty of bikes out. I think of the 20 odd that I saw in the 22 miles that I rode. There were three that had what you would call protective gear on. I was one them. Still, at the end of the day you take your own chances. |

I waited until the F1 was ruined before heading out fully kitted and it was still far too hot... can't bloody win.
So tempted to unzip my suit and wear jeans but bigape taught us all better than that... |

i did unzip my jacket and my flies tho . . . i did notice i rode quite alot quicker than usual too. |

![]() The trick I find to riding in the heat is to basically not stop unless you absolutely have to, by that I mean, when approaching traffic lights on a red, try to keep rolling for as long as possible, this basically takes your mind off of the heat and more on bike control. As soon as the sun comes out I'm in leather trousers, leather jacket (unless it's really hot then its the A* Stunt Airflow), gloves and boots, occasionally a helmet too. ![]() The above practice works for me. Also remember to drink lots of fluids (not alcohol) to prevent dehydration. Even with a choice of using a car with climate control I choose the bike every time, where practical. Must be nuts. ![]() |

sorry, was'nt trying to say it would have stopped injuries, but in the accident I had (wearing a armoured paddock jacket), a good fitting leather jacket could of held my shoulder together a bit better.(tighter so less room for shouler and collarbone to move independantly from rest of body. I think???)
