There was a previous post on this , i think upto a pint ~0.5l remains in the crankcase/little bits (technical) etc once the drain plug + filter is out. So you could be putting in upto that much too much?

oil and filter change is 2.4 litres, if you have done an engine teardown and rebuild its 2.7 litres

Yes I keep falling foul of this. Change the oil and filter and then top up the oil again. I am forever needing to drain excess oil back out. I think it's because when I have changed the oil and topped up. I am not allowing enough time for the oil to settle properly after having started the bike and switched off again. This may well have been your problem also.
If you find you need to drain the oil make sure its not "too" hot. I tried to drain a bit of oil after over filling and thought I was going to have 2nd degree burns on my fingers when I couldn't locate the plug back in the sump ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
