********... 20% is generally the salvage value for any vehicle, and a breaker that would pay more is a mug.

Simply ask them to reconsider their offer!

On the other hand, if you want to give it back to them with a "dinged" tank, then I'd be happy to help

I wouldn't even do that. Offer them £500 making it clear that's your final bid, then wait and see. You might get lucky.

Given that the main vulture is BillyC who's been persistent if nothing else I'm not sure you'll make that money back breaking the bike, I'd call it a loss if I was you

Being relatively new to the forum and reading through this thread.

It is my understanding that most insurance companies (over here anyway) are contracted to a salvage agent and they have a fixed % rate that they pay to the insurance company for salvage depending on the total loss cat i.e cat D has a higher rate than cat C.

Then again you might have a different set up than we do, if so then totally ignore what I have just said.
