Many moons ago I wrote to Suzuki UK's MD regarding this subject... He said that the SV's didn't have an issue with water ingress on the front cylinder, however if I did experience problems, please take it to my nearest deal for a full inspection by trained Suzuki engineers (obviously within the first two years of warrenty,) otherwise sling your hook

I pointed out that many people on this very site had had problems with this issue & it was obviously a design flaw and the fact that simply fitting a front fender extender or a simple extension of the front fender can & would cure the fault... Guess what... This didn't even dignify a responce

Shame I had a vision of a nasty photo with some perv burning himself, naked behind a glowing SV

Well that is pretty much the response as I expected! I have got to the point with the SV, that I cannot afford to get my bike repaired every time it rains, and I am not considering cutting my losses and selling the bike and getting something else. I love my SV but if I cannot rely on it to get me to work every day, especially in this wet British climate, then I have no other choice

Seriously, bit of silicon grease, £3, 5 minutes, job's a good 'un. So far it's onyl needed redoing when I've changed plugs, and it's been a total fix. My bike sees pretty much daily use in whatever Scotland has to offer, including a ride for 20 metres through a flood over a foot deep, and a couple of rivers. Don't worry about it...

Ah ha! Seems like the SV's didn't do too well on the way back from Donnington then! I had exactly the same problem and just popped on to see if anyone else had struggled...

Made it back to Manchester, but the A34 near Manchester's not the best fun around wet roundabouts when your two up with luggage and the engine keeps swapping between half and full power! Still have to say, those Metzeller z6's are great in the wet when your engine can't make it's mind up!

Just been outside to mine and it's still not happy, front pot comes in above 5k rpm, but it's a sh*t to start and people must think that you are a right nugget at lights keeping the revs up to keep it going!

Mine (SV650Sk3, just over 10k miles) has never had this problem before despite being ridden through winter, etc. but the plugs were changed on the last service and I can't help but think that they weren't done very well last time.

Just wondering, do you chaps have to take the radiator off to get to the front plugs as there's only about an inch of room to work with!

Still, next time it's going to be a 4 cylinder bike, just for resiliance!

I took the rad off, moved it forward about 3 inches or so! I was between half power and quarter power restricted!

You can grease it without removing it if you've got lil girly hands like mine and you're not afraid to maul them. Easier all round to pull it forwards a bit though.

It definately wasn't an SV problem as there were dozens of bikes by the side of the road. There were probably more 4 cylinder bikes being pushed and surprisingly a lot of BMW.

I never had to push mine anywhere, it just had a night out at the pub :P

As for the plug changing, I just drop the bottom bolt and I have a small block of wood that fits, thus enabling me to get my hand in using the Suzuki plug spanner.
