I suggest that that's a manipulation of statistics and is not a fundamental truth.
Hey, but aren't they great, but the wife can prove it

*grumbles*

im finding it hard to justify getting a sports 600, even with myself!
my problem is i always want the best, even if i cant afford it!

might get a z750 instead.
aahhhh i dont know. a z750 will cost more than a 2 year old gixxer but insurance wise its cheaper.

It's hard - there are times when the truth is twisted or changed entirely to present a better image.

A certain person has put in stuff to insurers and brokers and on several occasions found that they've altered things to give a certain light, which wasn't neccessarily the exact case, but would you argue if it made your side of things look better?

There's a huge grey area and all insurers are aware of and accept it... most often when it's in their favour but they're willing to be a bit flexible. Solicitors and bike/kit dealers are aware of this as well. But, it's like fight club - rule one is that you don't talk about it, rule two is...

So I think it's just flexibility in a system which is supposed to be really rigid... it's not the sort of thing they want to be widely known as it would cause more hassle, dodgy claims, etc.

And if they can find a way to not pay out because you didn't mention something and they can use that to their advantage, they will use it... but at the end of the day they're much less good at talking to each other and researching stuff than you'd think - they miss loads of stuff... you're most likely to have problems if the claim is large (big injury, etc.) or there really is a tough dispute over what happened and who's to blame.

Just my 2p worth...

Hard to say but you are probably going to have to cut your cloth according to your circumstances. That means third party insurance and a low group bike.Unless you have lots of money I would doubt you can justify an insurance premium that costs more than a good bike.Possibly a group 9/10 sv makes more sense than a sports 600?Group 14/15.

if people carry on not paying their premiums and avoiding insurance then its going to cost the rest of us in the long run.....

imho ---- get what you can afford to ride and be thankful that you can still ride

I have informed my insurers about any incidients i feel that woudl make me a greater risk ....

theft of moped.. (unisnured £0 cost)
accident on sv (cost to third party off insurance)

as im not comp, i feel no need to tell them if i were to slip on another roundabout... and not hit anythinf else...

i also tell my car insurance abotu biek realted things.. they usually go.. oh were not bothered about that...

I would definitely not tell my insurers about anything where I couldn't claim for it... so if I had third party and crashed on my own, I'd sort it on my own. If I could claim on my insurance or the third party then I'd tell them.

Does my insurer do loads of things to help me maximise my claim, get witnesses when I need them, make sure I'm looked after when it goes pear shaped?... No... instead they wriggle and blame shift and try and get out of fulfilling their part of the contract.

So why should I tell them about anything but a claim? If insurers weren't so scabby then people would perhaps be more honest with them.
