not been able to find anything on the DVLA website that outlines what they would consider to be "reasonable cause".

I'm not sure that you wanting to make them an offer on the vehicle would be enough.

The only sucessful public application I am aware of was a guy who had someone park a car on his property. In his case the "vehicles parked without permission on private land" was counted as "reasonable cause" by the dvla.

I'm not sure what help this information will be to you as his details are slightly different

On a slightly different tack, I had a private plate, and someone from one of these number plate companies wrote to me to buy it, they must have got the information from DVLA or someone.

Ok well good news, I managed to ind I still had a numbr for my mates fianee and after a couple of texs I established that she still has the bike and rides it... she also said that she is going to keep it for good. I didnt mention that I was looking for it to buy or anything as wasnt sure how to bring it up but am really glad that I know it is safe, with someone who will look after it. Little disappointed in some ways but more pleased that I know where it is.
