My dilema is I want something which would be faster for the track and I don't want two bikes in the garage. The comment about the top end handling is relevant as my other option is a CBR600FY complete with Ohlins and trailor for £2500 plus all the original exhaust and plastics
My problem is I love the torque of a V twin for road, every day riding but the SV650 just doesn't hack it on trackdays with regard to top end

I suppose renting a lockup is an alternative and if the CBR is trashed I still have my faithful rusty steed

Have till the end of Sept to decide as Suzuki have extended the 0%?????

I could see why the 650 is not so great for the track in standard form. It does feel slow compared to the SV1000 and the suspension is softer. As someone already said, it's worth asking in the zyns forum as many people there have used their SV1000s for track days and thought it was great. Maybe my suspension is not set up quite right but I felt alot safer on the ZX6R than the SV1000 over about 120mph. Never done a track day but we have the autobanns here if the urge for a high speed run hits you.

150 indicated solo @ 9500rpm (couldn't get my head down any lower coz of a tank bag ) and 130 two up - still with plenty to go.

Best I have had before the light came on was 120 miles (two up - averageing 80ish on the way to Brands Hatch). Commuting to work, light normally comes on around 100 miles

Getting suspension tweaked does make a difference - I had mine tuned by an Ohlins technician which made a big difference

Been talking about mine in another thread, which seems to have the front set up a bit strangely, possibly ajusted by previous owner, and I woudl'd mind getting it looked at. Does your Ohlins guy do tuning commercially? If he does d'ya mind if I ask how much roughly it was and whereabouts (cos I don't think I'd find him near your lat-long!).
