Certainly does seem a bit out of order. Still it's only three points and might have been worse - I mean (and I know it's highly unlikely ) you could have been doing a wheelie as well .

Me? Wheelie ? Sir, I think you must have mistaken me with someone else

25th of this month and I would have had a clean licence again

unlucky si, i know it wont make u feel any better but its not the police's fault that the law is as it is.

a letter in the new adition of ride from a magistrate says (roughly):
next time u get a ticket for speeding, request to go to court and when u arrive, plead guilty and receive the same penalty u would have done to start with. this will clog up the system and force a debate on whether speeding fines in certain places r wortyh the hassle and expense.

p.s. if my spelling sucks its cos im quite drunk! if its better than normal its cos im trying insanly hard to concentrate!

Don't sign the NIP yet.

Find out whether it was done by an LTI 20:20 laser. If it was, then lady luck may be on your side.

Keep an eye out for "Inside Out" next week on BBC, which exposes incredible inaccuracies in the LTI 20:20 speedgun system.

If you were wearing black clothing at the time then this also makes the readings inaccurate. They generally measure bikers by aiming at the person, not the machine as the target area on the front of the vehicle is so small it is impossible to maintain the target fixation. If the camera is moved too quickly from side to side then the readings are erroneous.

Also, if you were done from the front they will have had to write your registration plate down manually. If they are civvies, then I believe the law technically states they are not allowed to do this.

Finally, there's the problem of IDing you in leathers/helmet..

Yeah, right, and pay £50 court costs and take the risk that they think the offence is worth more than £60 fine and 3 points. I don't think so!

It's a bummer... though the number of cars and bikes I see who pile into a 30 limit still doing 60, then do maybe 50 through the village and rack it up to 70-80 the second they see the NSL sign on the horizon... at least they probably took the licences of dozens of car drivers the same day, though I don't suppose that's much comfort...

Is the legal advice still to get your spouse/legal rep to fill it in for you, with no signature at all, send it off, then if and when it comes to court, you claim to have never seen the NIP and they're not able to call your spouse or legal rep as a witness against you and the case gets chucked out? Seems almost more trouble than it's worth for just 3 points and £60 though, unless you've already got a high score.
