Thats if it was the speed gun used.
It was also in the news that black leathers etc can fool the reading, but it did not say if it went faster or slower.

Yep, it's probably true of any textile surface though. They shouldn't be pointing it at your body anyway and any trained traffic cop will know this. Doesn't mean they can't make a mistake though.

The only accurate place to take a refernce is the numberplate from a position directly behind the bike (eg, a following car or motorway flyover), anything else risks deflections causing the inaccuracy.
