Ok to follow on from last post..........
Yes the solenoid is the big relay... with 2 large wires and 2 small
If it is definatly clicking when youconnect your batt charger across the 2 small wires with no continuity across the large 2, then the contacts have probably burned out. You said previously that you had a large voltage drop on the battery when you tried to start it, and the starter barely moving. This has shown that there is/was a high resistance somewhere....... Your tests have shown that it is highly likely to be in the solenoid/relay well done

Bung another 1 there and you should be laughing

The probable reason that it started from a "jump" is because of the high amperage of the other battery used was able to overcome the resistance of the bad terminals. (bike batteries are never huge amphour jobs unlike car and jump pack batteries)

Glad to have been some help

Terry

A big hammer ?

You sure your battery is OK, thats the exact same symptoms that my bike has when the battery is flat, not totally flat, but there just isnt enough charge in it to turn the bike over.

Edit : must read your original post, OK new battery so its not that then

Dont really know what else to suggest, you want to ask Viney or Sid Squid reckon they would be able to help you
