Looks like it's the battery that is goosed. It wouldn't take a charge and when I rigged up a side light bulb to it, not a glimmer.

Weird, as I said before when you put a volt meter over it you get 12.5V then when you hook up the bulb....absolutly nothing!

I've never had a battery die on me like that before, it was just like switching off a light.

A healty 12V battery would actually give you 13.5V or more on a multimeter without load. 12V showing up on a multimeter shows it needs a charge. CHARGE IT!

I had the same problem after my SV was off the road for a year after a crash. The battery would not hold it's charge... I found that the quickest way to check that almost everything else is working is by using jump leads and connecting to another bike's or even a car's battery and trying to start it. If it starts first time, chances are that it's a dead battery.

Hey all,

If the battery can't even light a lamp the it's had it's chip. As someone said, just because you have voltage it doesn't mean you have amp's. This is phantom voltage, a meter will tell you that you have voltage but as soon as you have load on the circuit it will disappear.

God the superbikes were good.
