I had this happen to me twice, both after either heavy rain, or a jetwash. Once it dries out its fine, you got some water in past the seals, took mine about 2 days to come back to normal.

At one point the rev counter and the speedo were bouncing about all over the place when doing 30mph or so in 2nd.

when you pull out the front wheel spindle the black speedo pickup will drop off the righthand side of your wheel and will be attached by a wire, this has little plastic arms on that meet your wheel and your wheel turns the speedo pickup, as already been said by someone these plastic arms are prob broken.

Well yesterday I rode my bike to work and the speedo magically started working again. To work and home.. Got it out this mornign and doh! No speed.

I am going to have to take it to bit arent I?

Has anyone got a spare part they would like me to have or buy?

Cheers

I had exactly the same thing happen to me couple of years ago. taking it to bits is not too complicated even if your not used to getting the spanners out. Get it on a paddock stand and take the front wheel off and the sensor thingy is just there in the wheel and you take it out with your fingers, it might even drop out ( mine did!) as they often disintegrate with age. Its about £12 for a replacement one. Made of strange brittle resin with magnetic powder in it so take care when fitting the new one.
