my local shop works on £600. i sold them a bandit 600 (cash) and they put 600 ontop of what they gave me, and i purchased a cbr600f at a different time for cash and the shop gave me the phone number of the last owner who said it was ok to pass it on, and he told me how much the shop gave him for it again it was £600.
the cbr was sold the same day it went in and they didnt evan clean it so the £600 was clear proffit.
i can manage £600 but i'd say anymore is abit much.

Possibly more like £200 dependant on how many bikes they sold that week. You would have to pay £89.36 to the Vat man. The salesmans wage for the week would be about £500 including the companies PAYE contribution. If they had only sold one bike that week - which does happen profit before rental space allocated from the showroom turnover etc would be £10.64

Dont worry i do these figures on a weekly basis running my own shop. If you sold 10 bikes that week then the margin would be higher.

its always cheaper to buy private, but you dont get the customer service of a dealer, and you pay the extra for your bike so you can have the dealer back up.

also if you p/x the bike you are paying (or loosing) the cost of the hassel of selling the bike private.

some shops even do free warranty with their bikes so i think that helps give you peace of mind.

I know its not in your area but J Pease in Essex is both a car and bike dealer so for the cost of a phone call it might get you a result

Sorry for the late answer but just read the post
