I was recommended a Fog City Hyper-Optics insert. It changes from a light green in normal light to a dark blue in bright light with full UV protection. Guy on eBay does them for £18.50 well worth it as they are always legal no matter what light your riding in.

I wear a dark black visor/iridium and clear at night. On sunny days on the M3 you drive right into the sun and I once rode with a clear on and let me tell you THAT was dangerous. The iridium one is crap when it rains so I only wear that when the weather is 100% not going to rain which is not often! HAve been stopped but they never said a thing about the visor. I think most are okay as long as you are sensible about it. Don't really like wearing sunglasses after I had an accident and almost lost an eye because of them.

I can't speak for everybody else, but I wear contact lenses and suffer from the effects of glare quite badly. I use a black visor on a vaguely bright day, and believe me, it improves things a great deal.
I also like to wear sunglasses when off the bike.
I won't wear sunglasses under a helmet because it's uncomfortable and I can't lift them very easily for a tunnel or something.

Ditto, but not because they're uncomfortable, just because they're down right dangerous - Ask Mrs Fud in her Dad's accident & what happened to his face while wearing sun glasses/glasses
I fitted my 'Light Smoked' visor to my helmet the other day & had a bazaar journey home in the dark... Everything was in sepia-vision

Clear visor now stored in Oxford 'bum-bag' type pack

Jo's Dad is the reason i hate wearing sun glasses under my lid, every chance i get to wear my tinted visor instead of my clear one with Sunny Gs i do

a friend of mine once questioned a copper who pulled him, by saying that if he went through a tunnel or round a shady area he could flip up his visor, with sun glasses he'd have no chance of taking them off and putting them away

but common sense is the real iissue here, if we all use it then we should have no trouble

I recently got one of these
http://www.nippynormans.com/prodinfo...item=7&mitem=8

It says not suitable for Arai, but that's really only because of the vents in the visor, and you can trim the strip to fit with a sharp (new) stanley blade or scalpel.

It's not easy stuff to fit on a double curvature visor, it's not a stretchy type plastic so doesn't easily take the double curve, but if done when warm it'll get there eventually. I trimmed it narrower in the middle anyway to suit me.

The "tint" one is actually dark blue but looks black from the outside, they do a "silver" which I suspect is, well, silver!

I was using black pvc tape on the top section of the visor to shield bright sun, but this strip seems much better since you can see through it (not that there's been much sun yet), and if oncoming headlights glare you can just tilt your head down and mask them.

Expensive for what it is, but something to consider.

(PS also got a stebel magnum horn from there, the single low frequency one, very honky compared to the standard SV horn! )

I use a dark visor during the day )even when overcast because of the glare) and carry a clear one with me for if I get pulled by the fuzz and if there is a chance I will be out after dark

i use one of these and am quite pleased with it. a lot of folk said you got a sparkle effect using it at night but i find it safe enough to use (used all winter).

smoked arai visor, with a smoked fog city insert... perfectly legal, looks black from outside, can see plenty out. ALWAYS carry my clear visor with me when I go out and about with it on... just always a wise idea to carry a clear one incase you get caught out, and end up riding in the dark...
