They are, but as far as I know, only Aprilia are mass producing one atm.

The one in my boy's scoot is fuel injected, and I think that meets Euro 3, but it wont by the time he's finished with it

What sort of difference to emmissions does taking the cat off the sv650 make?? My mum is moning about me getting an scorpion can without a cat in it because its poluting...

If anyone can find any info on what the difference in emissons between the older and newer SV650 then thatll maybe show me what difference it makes (though with injection the newer should be better anyways id guess).

i read somewhere a while back that more harm is caused to the enviroment in the process of creating a cat converter than the benefit of having one for the duration of the viechle.

not sure how much truth lies in it (it wasnt MCN by the way)

On bikes, that's the case, it's not even remotely in doubt. It doesn't neccesarily hold for cars- but bikes by and large do ridiculously low miles over their lifespan by comparison. There was an industry survey a few years back that showed that of all japanese bikes sold in 1995 worldwide, by 2000 the average mileage covered was somwhere between 10 and 15000 miles (I forget where) and over a third were no longer on the road. The sample size was too small, fwiw, but it fits my expectations, so I'm biased

I can't remember what the break-even milage is for cats on a typical engine, but it's several tens of thousands for sure.

Then, you have to consider the number of bikes that have the cats removed and stuck on a shelf. And this is important, because it means that ThEGr33k's mum won't be placated The cat's still committed it's envoronmental impact whether or not he leaves it on.

What cats really do is move pollution from use to production- it's a loophole, since usage pollutants are now closely regulated but production pollutants are still less so.

Seriously ? I'd have thought that engine could do it easily...
