Scolari for England Another foriegn manager coming into the FA for a huge wage

England's manager should be English (just not Steve McLaren )

Big Sam or Stuart Pearce should get the job for me (or even both of them together )

I agree that the England manager should be English or at least British. Martin O'Niell would have been a great choice.

Not sure about Pierce though. No big time management experience for me.

I hope the FA are on the ball. Not proven yet though.

Would love to see O'Neill manage England. The Parkhead faithful wouldn't be best pleased

I think England should be managed by an Englishman. English players, English coach. It's only right. Same should go for Northern Ireland. NI players, NI manager.

England just doesn't have a suitable "all round" man for the job. I'd love to see Stuart Pearce running the show but he's not experienced enough, both tactically and from a man management perspective (think about who he'll be managing).

The best Managers in this country are foreign, Wenger, Mourinho, Benitez, even Ferguson's a jock.... Mclaren and Allerdyce are not really the right mould. Only Curbishly probably has what it takes, but even that's a risk.

It would be nice to see Pearce work with Scolari so there is a long term succession plan.

Scolari...

Brazil

Portugal

England???

I would love someone to provide a convincing argument that this is a natural career move for Scolari! He must be getting a fantastic salary package, as frankly based on what he has worked with previously the England squad is somewhat different.

Dont get me wrong there are some talented players that can be called upon but in depth talent England certainly does not have! That is me being a realist. He also will have to deal with the various cultures that still exist in the mentality and lifestyle of English players.

It takes more than chest out and ranting to win top competitions I am afraid.

Look at Arsenal,in the first leg against Villareal they did not have an English player in the entire squad that night. If I am not mistaken only Sol Campbell who played in Spain this week was the only English born player to be involved.

This will be no different than before, the press will court Scolari for the qualifying of the next Euro Championships, but by the time the competition comes around they will be up to their usual discrediting tricks!

Much as there is a small bunch of English born managers that could well be suitable in a few years, only a fool can ignore the discipline and more cultured football that the likes of Rafa Benitez, Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger have brought to the English game. As this kind of influence takes a firmer hold, England will in future be able to truly compete at International level.

The 100 mile an hour long ball game is dead unless in the dying minutes of a knock out competition.

After all is said and done I will be cheering England on this summer, but anything beyond the quarters will I think be a bonus.

Make of all that what you will!
