You did'nt re connect the live feed after fitting the fan,thus no charge to the battery.

Had the terminals reversed on your battery?... though that'd probably make it exlpode.

The rectifier was not plugged back into the harness.

On a seperate note, are you small? Because bump starting an sv on a flat is fairly easy. (unless this can't be done without your reg/rec plugged in)

I couldn't bump start mine when the battery died

I've bumped mine loads of times, Find it fires best when in third and thumbing the starter. First gear just locks the rear, second you have to get it going pretty quick. Just get it going to about 15Mph, Hop on, Flick ignition on, Knock into 3rd, Bounce the suspension while dumping the clutch and thumbing starter ( bouncing puts more pressure on rear tyre so it'll grip) and bang she goes.....That how i do mine anyways .

Im a pretty big guy and i couldnt get mine bump started on a flat battery without a push off a couple of guys!!!

I've never been able to bump mine.....will try this way next time....but then i'm too lazy to run along with a bike that weighs more then me (i'm 8 1/2 stone )
