This is the second time he has done this in as many weeks. think its the first lot back. so just moved bike and chained it to the lamp post. fingers crossed they wont try again.

will phone police to advise in the morning

of course cant sleep now
Eh up!

Firstly, I would buy an Almax chain and a ground anchor if there isn't something decent to lock to. Second, a bottle of whisky for your neighbour!

Thieves are generally pretty thick and will rely on you parking in the same place at the same time in order to be able to nick it. If it's not there the next time they drive past then they'll hopefully strike it off their list and move onto the next one. Chaining it to a solid object is something that only serious thieves will work around.

It's worrying so may people would get involved in nicking a bike like the SV - even a new one won't be worth much when it's sold on, compared to the work changing it's ID or breaking it for parts... but the SV seems as big a target as sportsbikes do.

Interesting that they took the cover off - indicates that they were very keen to get it and probably already knew what was under the cover - so likely to be the original thieves. Were they trying to load it into the back of a van? Any chance of getting the plate or vehicle description? Usually comes back with a stolen or no registered owner but at least it's then on watch by the ANPR system.

didnt have any security on it. i have had it parked in same place (a wee private car park behind the flats) for 2 years. last year my tax disc was stolen. neighbour frightened off a couple of neds last week with the dog but looks like they came back with some help. so started up bike, as its parked on a hill and i cant push it, at 4 am and moved it so back wheel next to only lamp post. now chained to it. i think they were just opportune thieves as they had no equipment with them. all wearing shell suits etc. hopefully mine will be too tricky now and they will leave it alone and not just knock it over into neighbours car. he has moved his car to a different angle to make it more difficult for them. going to buy him a bottle of something when i find out what he drinks. great neighbour. has always been there for me since i moved in. always watches out for kids too.

Theiving fecks

I'd love to be left in a room with one of those scrotes with a Pair of pliers and a blowtorch.

Good on your neighbour, wouldn't get that round where I live. I've lived in the same block of flats with the same people for 3 years now and we're only just on nodding terms... not a chance they'd lift a finger if, (oh sorry, when), my bike got robbed!
