Yeah, why not! Better test for it being unbalanced is riding it - when you go over a small bump do you feel it with both wheels, or do you get a whack at one end and almost nothing at the other? I think I used to use preload setting 4/7 on the stock shock, but it wallowed when you really got a boogie on, so notched it up another for the track (I weight the same as you, i.e. f'all), though 5/7 is too hard for the road.
