That really is a kick in the nuts.

Damage looks fixable though and the crash bung may have done its job.

Give the guy a break...not everyone can or want to!.

Not good news. Contact your insurers and see if you can claim through the uninsured bureau...think thats what it is. My friend got knocked off in front of me a few years ago and the guy did a runner. He then got paid out through this scheme..took a while though.

I did a HPI check on that car for you.

VRM J411HAP
VIN/Serial number JN1EGAN14U0401109
Make NISSAN
Model SUNNY GTI
Body type 3 DOOR HATCHBACK
Colour RED
Date first registered in the UK 25/02/1992

Transmission MANUAL 5 GEARS
Engine number SR20-074033W

As these cars have a cult following it might be worth a post onto the owners forums to see if anyone knows it. http://www.turbophile.com/links.html#gtir has links to the sites. Well worth a try.

Hope that might help.

WOW

People like you make this world a better place, and hard times easier.

Just a quick question about the motor insurers bureau thingy.

If I was knocked off like curium and there were plenty of witnesses to prove that it was someone else at fault and not just an accident I had on my own, would I be able to claim from the MIB as opposed to claiming on my own insurance and losing my NCB plus having my premium increased due to making a claim?

Your best bet is to call them and ask. RSS rider support are also very knowledgable and good in situations such as this.

Spoken to my insurers (carol nash) and they have advised that I could try to go through the MIB but the chances of getting anything are slim as I am fully comp and the MIB is supposed to be a place of last resort.

My excess is £300 so they said to go and see a dealer to price up the damage and if I want to make a claim just give them a call.

The dealer priced up the minimum parts i'd need to be able to ride the bike but say they wouldn't be able to get it into the workshop before I go so when the parts arrive I'll have to take a day off work to fit them myself.

Came to £104.90 for LHS front indicator, LHS wing-mirror, clutch lever, gear change lever seal-washer and circlip.

They had the clutch lever and indicator in stock but I'll have to wait for the others. They hope to have them in by Tuesday.

As for the exhaust and front fairing - I was going to replace the exhausts so there's no point claiming for damage to an item I was planning on replacing if it's going to cost me my no-claims. I'll get a price for the fairing at a later point.

I'll take the bike into Essential Rubber to replace the LHS R&Gs.

Thanks for all the kind offers. If the dealer is unable to get the parts in I may have to take you up on them.

At the moment I just want to get the bike back running to avoid losing out on the holiday I've booked for me and my gf in the south of france.

Only 2 months old and my bike has been well and truly christened
