Default Prices....

Getting mine for £4295 (£300 under list)

Was thinking of going to Cupar MC - they are selling for £3995, but I figure about £70 for flights ( wouldnt get anything moving until AFTER I passed in that case, so guessing 1 week notice flight costs from Heathrow to be about that) That is if your flight will even take-off with you on it.

With current airline restrictions, I figure I would need to buy a new lid - well I wouldn't want to trust one that had been at the mercy of baggage handlers - even if it WAS wrapped in my leathers.

Then about £60+ for fuel - not being able to ride it optimally until after 1k miles.

Then there is the free labour on the 1st service

And the weekend away (one of my few not on-call ones)

So I figures Infinity @ Clapham could have my cash (only 2 Tube stops away)

And while the guy couldn't knock much more off the ticket price of the bike, he is knocking some cost off the labour of fitting things like a set of R&G's, a DoubleBubble and a Scottoiler.

Oh BTW has anyone seen/got/used the Suzuki Top Box that fits where the pillion seat goes? If so, whats it like

And is it worth the money for the Suzuki alarm system?

Have been planning on doing so for the last couple of weeks, except that last minute things have cropped up - like working till 11 the other night

Might get a chance to pop over this week, definately wont the following week, but will do all I can to make it on the 1st Sept.

Hope to see you (and the other Sohoites) in the very near future.

Oh and a mate of mine just picked up a 2nd hand curvy, also in red, so once he gets himself sorted out with gear and his license transferred from NZ, there may be 2 of us new faces.

I have given him the URL of this site - so he should show up in a day or two

Default Insurance & Alarms

Still to sort out the detail on the "extras" I want on my bike

Cant decide on insurance.

If I was getting a 2nd hand bike it would be a no-brainer, TPF+T

But new.... should I go for Fully Comp?

Also is there any real point on getting an alarm fitted? I am considering the Suzuki one (about £300)

It's in the owner's manual.

Below 5000rpm for the first 500 miles, then below 7500rpm until 1000 miles have been done. First service (oil and filter change) is due at 600 miles.
Sorry to be a pedant, but the owners manual for a K6 says 5,500rpm for first 500 miles, then 8,500rpm for the next 500 miles. It also says to vary the engine speed, and avoid lots of low rev riding, otherwise the engine parts wont mat together properly. The dealer specifically told me to vary between 4,500rpm and 6,500rpm (I ride on motorways a lot), but I freely admit that while escaping cages I have been known to bounce around about 9,000rpm. But that was only for a few seconds or so.

Also, first service is 1000km (600 miles), and should cost around £40.

The question about alarms, it's been discussed before on the forums, but it was generally decided by the masses that the SVS is a 'budget' bike, and if a theif is determined, they'll have your SV alarm and all. I've posted before about the Cyclone C-11, which can be bought for a little over £20 inc P&P from the manufacturer. Fit it yourself, and it's just as much of a deterrant as a £300 alarm.

Congratulations on choosing the SVS btw! I did the same, had the SV650S before my licence

The choice is entirely up to you. Personally I didn't bother with an alarm for the SV, it lowers your insurance premium a little bit but unless you are parking in really dodgy areas I probably wouldn't bother, I would just have chains and disc locks etc.

This is pretty important, I reckon... Some people still think it's a good idea to simply go on a 500 mile motorway ride at 5500rpm exactly for hours. Doesn't work...

Hmm, changed from the K5 manual, Forgot to add in the vary engine speed, sorry.

Moral of this story is to read your own owners manual for your own bike.
