Because it was cheaper than running a car, and I found I really enjoyed it

I find I get to work more alive. Plus I can get out of London if I want, without having to rely on the train.

Who cares if it is raining and freezing cold? I'd still get wet and cold walking to the tube in the morning.

Been into bikes since I was about 11 (now 32) … started off riding old nails round my mates field … that got me hooked …. On my 16th birthday I was out on the road on my 50 … 21 years further down the line (16 years on the road), I have been riding pretty much every day since …

Since I was 17 I have had car licence and 4-wheels at my disposal too, but like Grinch, that has always been my second choice to pick up those keys!! …

For about the last decade my commute would be a joke if it wasn’t for my bikes, so part necessity (well it isn’t necessity, just don’t want to sit in an hours worth of traffic when on the bike I can be there in 20 mins ) part love of bikes.

Couldn’t imagine life without a bike/bikes??

Thats what I discovered - hence the car has now just become the "bad weather transport"...

I hate bikes with a passion, I cannot for the life of me understand why I have continued to participate in this senseless pastime for 3/4 of life!

...because I see Leeds traffic going the way of London. I see congestion charges coming. I see increased parking charges and all round the cost of running a car is going to get worse.

Also, I was so scared when I went pillion on an SV with a "mate" who did 120 down the M4 that I wanted to overcome that fear and live a bit more of a risky life.

I don't love bikes yet as today was my first day on the road and it didn't go well (see here http://forums.sv650.org/viewtopic.php?p=635278#635278) but I hope I will soon.

I got into it first because CBT was cheaper and faster than a driving license... But it took root
