All the above are reasons to file an official complaint at Suzuki HQ. Don't let some little @rse wipe fob you off with p*** poor excuses.

Tough luck mate.

You should have got a ZX6R instead of that poofy little 599 hairdryer.

Funnily enough I head of someone else on the southwest bikers forums or something who had massive trouble with his GSXR600 K6 that put it off the road for ages and he wasn't happy with the service either.

Time for a refund ? I dont know if thats possible though. Surely if the bike was only two weeks old when it went wrong you must have some entitlement to your money back ? Time for a trip to Citizens Advice to see what your rights are ?

Hope you get it sorted out

erm technically the guy on the phone was right. IIRC, under the Sale Of Goods Act if you have a fault with anything you buy its between you and the dealer initially, not the manufacturer and its for the dealer to adhere to the SOGA and work with the manufacturer to remedy that.

You clearly have come back against the dealer - the bike doesnt meet the fit for purpose requirements of the SOGA. But while there are faults with Suzuki manufacturing your first port of call is really the dealer.

That probably wasnt what you wanted to hear but its the dealer who needs to be taken to task and chase up the part or give you a replacement or refund. Jumping up and down and getting angry with Suzuki wont work - even though theyre the manufacturer initially your recourse is with the dealer.

Oh, another one...

You need to read up on the Sale and Supply of Goods to Consumers Regulations 2002. Inspired by a Euro Directive, they are your friend. They amend the Sale of Goods Act such that it is far easier to reject defective goods or claim a replacement. The Regs ghave been around a few years now, but aren't that well known. Shame, because they are very powerful in favour of people dealing as a consumer - as you are.

You'll find the text of them on the Office of Public Information (formerly HMSO) website - www.opsi.gov.uk. The search engine on that site is excellent, it will take you straight to them.

Read in particular section 48.

Incidentally Lyn is right, there are very few possibilities to claim against Suzuki. But with the Regs you don't need to. And in any case there will be some sort of dealership agreement and the dealer will simply pass the claim on to Suzuki.

If you need any more pointers, PM me.

HTH

Lynw, I know all that and yes I'm following up with the dealer what my options are. What I was jumping up and down about (as you so delightfully called it) was the quality of service Suzuki provided. They were extremely unhelpful and made it clear they didn't give a monkey's. Thats what has got me so riled about.

This makes for very depressing reading. Just convinces more that my next bike will be another Honda.

Top chap Ed - well done
