16 k on the original OEM chain

Developed a tight spot, got worse very quickly after about 15K

New chain and sprockets fitted (sprockets were probably OK but changed them anyway to prevent wear on the new chain.

New set has done 0.00 miles >> seems ok at the moment

My son had an Afam fitted to his SV about 1500 miles ago. They are reputedly a top chain,so we will see.Am I correct in thinking the OEM Did chains are endless and you have to take the swingarm off to fit them?

no, they come with a link that needs to be rivetted in place using a chain rivetter tool.

My K5 has just coming up to 19,000 miles on it and i'm still on the original chain and sprocket. Only time it ever gets adjusted is when new tyres go on, Unfortunatly this afternoon i am gonna have to adjust it for the very first time myself, i hope this isn't the slippery slope to getting a new one.

it does not pay to replace only the chain, or only a sprocket, to get full life, you have to replace in sets

yup ,i know randy.

but it makes you wonder though doesnt it, if i was to replace the front sprocket, it would cost me a tenner, if it gets another 2k out of my chain, would it be worth it ?

im looking forward to getting a new gold chain to be honest
