Come off it guys, it aint that bad!! Well, on my bike it aint anyway.

Realistically with the throttle pinned open wide 1mph ticks by maybe every 2seconds tops! I've also seen an indicated 149mph.

also that speed was after the original can had gone back on for the MOT. the rest of the time it had a carbon can company exhaust on. maybe the engine got use to that and therefore was causing it to slow down a bit??
If the bike's been set up to run with the aftermarket can then putting the OE can back on will affect performance.

A restricted SV wont redline! Well, unless oyu had a strong tailwind, a long long road going downhill!!

So that is about ~2 miles to go from 125 to 149!! ... where are you managing to do them sorts of speeds for that sort of distance?!!?

It has to be a deserted motorway ... I just don't have the nads to do that*!!!

*I am not scared of speed ... but I am scared of getting nicked at them sorts of speeds and then duly getting taken up the 4ss by the judge in court!!!!

ive got a sk6 (pointy), im 17 so its restricted to 33bhp. wit the restrictor it should only do 105 mph. but ive ad 110 mph, a standard sv will do 135-140mph. to restrict the sv its done by the cdi. so swappin the restricted cdi to a standard one should make no difference

mine is a curvy. using the FI restrictor kit initially, it acted like a cruise control on the motor way- a comfortable 80-85mph, and 95-100mph absolutely flat out in the best of conditions, with your head nestled in the clocks.

it strikes me you are very new to the biking game. to redline a bike with standard gearing in 6th, you need all of (if not more than) the power the machine is capable of providing. This, for the majority of applications; (top speed vs. acceleration considered), will usually mean that 6th gear is somewhat of an overdrive, and most vehicles will therefore not redline in top gear.

125mph is quite low if it is defintely redlining in 6th in ideal conditions.my bike redlines at 105 in 4th, which when restricted, was not possible! essentially, it is capable of accelerating like your bike does now up to about 6.5k except this buggers up the running and fuelling somewhat (obviously, given the way the FI kit works) so you get fewer mpg and a generally unsatisifying ride if you are attempting anything like a mildy ambitious overtake.

the fastest I have been is 138mph on mine, with a virtually tired, inadequate triple s chain and sprocket. this was slightly downhill on a long stretch of *track*

i have yet to re-test this now that i have installed a new DID x ring chain. - i have just repaired a puncture with sealant temproarily so im not going ape**** until get some new tires.

mostly i find 78mph is about optimum cruising speed - feels comfortable.
ECU mysteriously fallen out yet then . Quite a patronising post from someone so young!

Apologies if i have mistaken you for someone else but the memory is usually spot on.

Eh? Yes it will make a difference, the restrictor doesnt just affect top speed, it reduces acceleration right through the rev range.

(And its not a CDI its the ECU)
