Standard springs are 315mm and spacer is 198mm(non-adjustable preload forks) .

You can cut down the existing especially if never going to be put back to satndard or use PVC. The OE spacer are probably not that expensive. I believe I have some PVC knocking about.

Cheers
Ben

Edit: Spacers are only about a fiver. I'll go with cutting down originals myself.

great, thanks. cutting down the originals is what I was planing to do, I just wanted to make sure there'd be enough pipe to do so, given that I want to run the progressives without the adjuster caps which would make those spacers 15+mm short

If I'me thinking right that would make it

450mm(progressive springs) minus 315mm(OE springs)= 135mm(difference in spring lengths)

Meaning the spacers have to be cut down 135mm giving you 63mm(198-135mm). The spacer you already have should work 'as is'. Don't know how much static sag(bike) Hyperpro should have but my calculation is saying a 3mm difference bearing in mind Hyperpros are normally just straight swaps.

Hmm...IIRC, did you happen to get the springs from JHS/wondering if they were supposed to be a straight swap jobby?

My calculations should be right and in that case the cut down spacer you have should suffice you could cut down 3mm off if feeling fussy

Cheers
Ben

sorry, what I meant was...

I can cut ~20mm off the 198mm spacers to work with the linear springs & adjustable preload caps; I can then cut another ~14mm off the spacer to put in the racetech. I want to compare the linears without/with the racetechs, otherwise I'd do it in one go. this is all fine

however, not knowing (then) the length of the original springs & spacers, I didn't know whether the original spacer would be long enough to use with the progressive springs & non-adjustable preload caps - 60mm spacer & ~20mm to replace teh preload adjuster - so 80mm. since you say the standard spacers are 198mm, which is >80mm, so all is fine

btw - the progressives & adjustable caps came from JHS with the 60mm spacer as a set

hope that is clear this time

I reckon I've got a pair of standard spacers somewhere on the garage floor...

Remember it is the 'sag' you are setting, the heavier springs will require less preload for the same sag ... so its not like you can directly do the sums like that, but these numbers will give you a ballpark.

p.s. I'd be very intrested in the resuts of the with-without emulators test

yup, noted. I have adjustable preload caps so it's less of a big deal, but I'll set the sag properly

me too. it'll be a one-time deal though, once the damper rods are drilled out there's no going back (except with new damper rods

An interesting experiment, that I might use the results with on my road bike, but once done, I can’t see any reason you would want to revert back anyway. I am happy with my setup, which will be exactly the same as you have, sure if you spent more time and money you might be able to come up with something better, but I feel I can do pretty rude stuff with what I have already!! so fine for trackdaying

How much were the emulators? They are about £125 aren’t they?

I was just meaning that once it was done ti wouldn't be a 10 minute job to swap it back if someone else wanted to see the difference with/without

I think (hope) that once the emulators are in there then the suspension should be pretty much optimum. if I was looking for anything more I'd probably buy a cbr6 or similar, something with semi-quality suspension to start with.

£115 from pdq: http://www.pdq1.co.uk/racetech.htm

A Gixer front end conversion on ya SV would probably be a cheaper option

Like I said I am happy with the confidence my ‘front end’ gives me for trackday purposes, a revelation over stock!!!
