. No. I don't do that.

They are Sidi Vertigo and true they are sold as "wicks away moisture" so not waterproof.

I'm not realy sure where the water gets. I think the zipper, I've tried coating the zip with petroleum jelly.

From your replys I think I'm on to a loser, I don't want to change them as they give me lots of confidence etc.

Anyone tried the socks?
Well you have answered your own question. if they aint waterproof, then they are not going to be. Other than those things that you can get that go over them (Like aterpfoofs for your boots) then you are not going to win. Its all about the inner liner on sidis. They have a waterproof sock that sits inside the boot and makes up its constrution, that and a Lorica(sp?) outter, makes them sort of water proof. They do make a waterproof version of the Vertigo i beleive.

Same boots as Carsick for me.

My Hein Gerrik boots were fine until yesterday.A day out at Lydden where it chucked it down all day and a 200 mile round trip did for them.I think they leaked, but to be fair water getting in through the neck of my suit slowly worked it's way down inside and could have been responsible for the soggy socks. But I think the boots leaked too.Everything else did eventually.

Er...the vertigo are NOT waterproof or sold as.
Maybe it was the Vertibrae, or another word beginning with 'V'. Either way they were advertised and sold as waterproof but in real life were splash proof!

And me, I've had a damp foot once. Same situation as Carsick, all day riding in torrential rain coming back from Ireland.

I've got Alpine Stars SMX plus's n they've never leaked (they're not waterproof boots either ).
Mind you I don't get them absolutely soaked! If I get caught in a downpour though they seem to hold out pretty well!

Well I need to invest in some new all weather boots. So what can we recommend as the best for about £150 - £200?

On my experience. Alpinestars SMX3 Goretex IIRC £189 but I bet you can get them cheaper than I paid for them.
