Cheers for the feedback

I commute every day in London and would not use it for that, but at the weekends I go down to the West Country on the M4 so was conisdering using the Ipod for that - still a bad idea ?

go for it. Just obviously take it easy with it, and spend more time checking the space around you. Personally i think it keeps me more alert on motorway journeys, and leave the headphone cable hanging out so you can pull it if you need to hear something. All you'll be missing at speed is the wind noise anyway

This looks pretty neat, if you don't want an iPod:

Has anyone else noticed this, not noticed, does not give a s**t? You get the drift.
Perhaps it just has its own favourite tracks!

Yes, I know this is somewhat off topic!
It's because no computer based machine can generate truly random numbers (some can by basing the numbers on external factors). It's fairly difficult to make one that is fairly random (as in, over a sample of hundreds of thousands, the distribution of numbers will be fairly even), but people regularly manage it. It seems that Apple put the work experience boy on it when it came to generating random numbers for the ipod (which is how shuffle works)- a mate I was talking to over the weekend reported exactly the same thing.

To be fair, it does happen in other things (although I've not seen it happen so much/so badly in other music players); the videogame Burnout: Revenge's "random" track selection is laughable (you regularly get the same track (out of 100-odd) 3 times in a row!)

Accidents happen!

Meanwhile back on earth....podcasts can be anything from an interview with someone, or highlights from certian DJ's shows etc. They are usualy free and are catching on. There are even some free podcasts of some DJ's club sets...if thats your thang.
