On the commute home tonight, something else dawned on me about this thread.
Dual carriageway, roadworks ahead, typical car driver reaction of everyone in front slamming the brakes on. Instinctively I started slowing without the brakes, miles before I needed to, and put the hazards on in the attempt to wake up those behind me. I do the same in the car in the same situation, so didn't think about it until after I'd done it. It was a situation like that years ago, that almost saw the fiesta I was driving sat under a truck because the driver wasn't paying attention. I'd hate to be on the bike & something like that happen. Hovi5, shame you don't have the option to do that huh? :P |

If you're slowing down and someone is following should always touch the brake to show a stop light anyway. You may be well aware of the significant engine braking ability of a twin, however Mr.Rep in his company car eating his sandwich while on the phone will not notice a small bike getting significantly bigger in his windscreen until the bonk of you landing on his bonnet grabs his attention.
Hazards on a bike aren't much use anyway as they are so close together they do not attract the attention in the same was as they do on a car. Perhaps some kind of pop-up flag with semi-clad young lady or policeman with a speed cam will attract some attention.
