I always have done in the past- via the sight glass!!!!!!!

And of course there is the old question of how much oil DO you put in an Sv? 2.3 litres defo isn't enough in mine.

Default Oil Change

Just use the sight glass as long as it is clear enough to see the correct level. I normally endup putting more oil in than the 2.4l to get the level upto the mark!

Don't do this.At my last oil change I did everything perfectly and drained all the oil out with no nasty mess.I got the filter off and changed that and refilled the engine with lovely new oil.I had even remembered to put the drain plug back in. Then I stepped back to admire my handiwork ------
And trod in the tray of old oil.It went everywhere.
