Like a SV650 to a SV1000! Very big difference.

The 33bhp thing is total garbage and should be binned.
yes a very big difference.

That's cool, it must be like having a totally new bike

If anyone asks me how fast the SV is, I always say "Fast enough". I was a virtual novice when I jumped on mine, I never even thrashed the ER-5 I passed my das test on. TBH I found it a bit scary at first but it is oh so addictive, and I just love the way you can come off a slowish roundabout with it going bwom-bwom-bwom-bwom and as you effortlessly build the revs you can tell it's starting to get into its stride and then braaarrrrrrmmMMM! it really is at the redline before you know it. I hope I never grow tired of that. Besides, I've already arrived at a corner or two a bit quicker than I should have. I don't need anything more likely to encourage me into that sort of ****-up.

I dunno, restricting to 33bhp makes me feel safer and gives me one less thing to worry about whilst getting better at riding. Although 2 years is a bit long? I dunno. I spend my days learning about cornering, and with 33bhp on tap I dont have to worry about crappy throttle control spitting me off

Mind you, I am looking forward to that full power....

mmmm...

The throttle goes both ways Matt.

I agree that it gives you time and roadcraft but the SV is not a scary powerbike. A fireblade is a different matter but why should some politician tell you what you can ride? There are no car restrictions.

Seeing some of the idiot boy (car) racers along my road there should be. Why do you think insurance is so heavy for younger riders? John

i disagree, i dont think insurance for young riders is that bad, ok i was 19 when i got my license so not a 17 year old but still i was only paying £420 comprehensive,
and if you ask me considering that i am paying more than double that for my car, and my car is only TPFF insurance (dam rovers never get one if you care about insurance premiums!!) and my bike goes a hell of a lot faster and if you ask me there is more chance of a clame on a bike i think that is pretty dam good!!!!

I think the 33bhp is a good thing but it should also be implemented to cars for young drivers somehow. Glad I haven't gotta ride the SV on 33bhp as I did that 2 1/2 yrs ago on my ZXR400. The guy who I bought it off said that there was a big difference when he had it unrestricted, but I kept them in to prevent me dieing so young lol.

glad your pleased with it jimmy. good luck

That is if the chavs have insurance in the first place

A 33bhp can still do 100mph...plenty fast to do damage.

The old system was good enough...i doubt it made any difference to the accident stats...

Anyone else who has a restrictor on their SV answer me this quick question. Does your throttle seem a lot stiffer than other bikes. It may be me or maybe my bad maintenence but i went on my Gramps's Sprint ST at the weekend and nearly blew his engine up when i turned the throttle to rev it
