Not necessarily. I asked my car insurance people if they wanted to know about my bike accident and they said they weren't interested at all, that they didn't want to know as it didn't happen when driving a car.

It is standard that a claim will remove 2 years ncd entitlement (the max is 5....or 4 with some companies - yours probably - "more than" by any chance?). protected will mean you can have something like:

"up to 2 claims in a 3 year period, but no more than one per policy year."

so your wifes crash was protected....no ncd lost. Then when you crashed it was 2 in one policy year so it was affected this time. Thats how i read it, and translate it with my experience working in insurance. Unfortunately its a small print thing, protected means partially protected (like your watch says waterproof......but if you go below 5 metres it breaks)

as for tim in belgium. It is an insurance industry standard that your no claims expires after two years. Although you could use your 1 years foreign no claims bonus (sorry but the 6 months extra mean nothing). All companies owned by rbs group would accept it......provided it was in english.

these include:

tesco
Virgin money ***This one always seems to give the best prices***
natwest
rbs

and probably:

Direct line
Churchill
(both owned by rbs but operated out of other offices so cannot say for 100% certain)

Hope this helps/slash clarifies whether you have been hard done by!
Paul
