I shall sift thru my old mags to see if I've got that issue. It sounds familiar.

Sod to fit because of the offset shock But probably easier than the single siders you see. And definately more suited to the SV. RGV arm's shorter than SV, I think, but not horrendously so.

I think the CBR400 had a 150 section Tyre/wheel on the back, so its possible the SV wheel might squeeze in there. I think the RGV had a 150 as well. I'd be concerned on the shorter length, although small extended spindle mounts would work. As you say the offset shock would be the biggest issue.

((NOTE TO SELF; Job number 1000037 = fit gullwing to 30yr old SV in back of shed (Are Harris still in business ? ))

The RGV forks are really old now, they're too soft std and the valving needs sorting if your upping the spring rate.
Better to sell and use the money to buy a front end thats at least 10 years younger

Wink Re: RGV 250 forks on SV650s

i just made this modify. RGV forks fit without big trouble over the 99-02 frame.

just need a little modify to the triple clamps because the distance between the two clamps is bigger so is necessary remove the soldering welding , push inside the clamps the steering column of 8mm and than need to solder again.
after that ic can fit without troubles.
if u wanna use the steering lock of the SV over the RGV Clamps you must remove at least 5 mm from the lock for permit tu turn around the SV frame and enlarge and make more thin the hole of the clamp around of the lock support.
the SV650 whell can fit and the distance is managed by the speedometer sensor.
i put the RGV calipers and fit very well over the SV rotors without any modify.
the bearing of SV fit over the RGV steering column very easy.

by now i need to work over the electric circuit but when the engine will start i will tell how it works.
i send my apologize in advance for my poor english... i' m italian auto didact english learner and i dont talk english every day.

Sounds like a lot of work - interesting project though. I'd love to see the finished article - let us know how you get on.

By the way; there's nothing wrong with your English - much better than if I tried to write this in Italian!

the whole report (in italian) with the whole picture gallery is here...
http://www.motorcafe.it/?p=3436
actually i fit the calipers and the handlebar with modified riser because the valve over the handebar of the RGV is more tall. . i will put new pictures soon as possible.
