A couple of other checks you can do.
On your V5C there is a 'special notes' section on the front page. This should mention if it was imported/reg'd overseas.

Also on your V5C, do the first two dates in 'vehicle details' match?
ie. 1st Reg Date & 1st Reg in UK Date. If they do then obviously it's a UK model.

Or... On your service record (wee booklet issued when new), the pink ID sticker should have SUZUKI GB Plc in the corner and the opposite page should have COUNTRY: GB in big letters!

So mine has 23/09/1999 for both dates whereas my car (jap import) has 1st Regd: 01/11/1996 & 1st Regd UK: 01/01/2005

HTH.

The bike is an import. I have no doubt of that.
No carb heaters, no plate pop-riveted to the side left hand side of the frame.
I have some original paperwork and this shows that it was registered in the UK at the time of the first purchase and as part of the sale a MPH clock was fitted, the original km was also recorded.
So it was not new when it was registered in the UK , but the V5C does not state "previously used overseas" as I am familiar with. I have other bikes in the garage, non of which are standard UK bikes.
As it was second hand and there is no engine number I was assuming that it was a Japanese import.
I don't really think that finding the original country of sale is going to help me in finding parts, although it may do. I am just interested to find out.

Thanks for the comments
