Best to get down to HG or J&S and try on as many pairs as poss. I tried on allsorts almost settling for Alpinestars 2 piece until the imortal words 'hey I think we've got something new in the back' when he brought out a 2 piece Arlen Ness suite. I knew straight away. It fits tighter than the AP but is sooo much more comfortable. Maybe I'm a wierd shape, who cares they fit like a glove - oh and they were more expensive than the Ap's - Damn salesman

The problem with my leathers was that they were too short in the back, there was no way they would ever break in. I had to have a new piece of leather put in at the back, the sleaves rotated and a few other bits done. the more you get done the more it costs, i think my alterations were a couple of hundred in the end. Its worth going and getting a fitting, Nine Lives will tell you if its a case you just need to spend more time in them or if they need alteration.

As Kitkat says, wear them around the house. Do the hoovering, Ironing, maybe even cut the lawn. They'll take a couple of weeks, but you'll get there

naugh wrong with those. Just make sure you can put your legs on pegs and you will be fine. Couple of days riding and they will stretch a bit. Honest.

Depending on what areas they are too tight. Put some tracky bottoms or a thick sweat shirt or something on and wear around the house, or even go for a gentle ride. They will feel really tight but then when you wear next to nothing underneath they should be nice and comfy. Well, mine are now.

Thanks gain for the advice
....so after wearing them round the house a few times I got into them for the first time this morning, Immediately felt better all round..........Untill I got onto the bike...... It's mostly round my knees, Its a real struggle after stopping to get my leg back on, changing up is fine but when lifting my foot to downshift its a bit uncomfy too, I was hoping there might be some ajusters on the inside of the trousers but none. It feels if I can adjust the angle of the pegs they might be ok or maybe lowered slightly.....But do I alter them for the sake of 114 quid leathers......... Dunno, think I might get the old baggy textiles out again. ![]() |

I once went out and bought a brand new set of IXS leathers. They were so tight that I could hardly walk. I actually bought them, put them on and then road the bike home. Jeez I could hardly move anything and my riding was terrible.
However, after a few weeks of wearing them all the time (yes including sitting on the sofa watching the TV) they stretched to perfection. A testament to having good fitting leathers, follow the link in my signature. ![]() |
