I run a YTZ7 which is what is used on CBR6rr racekit (its tiny), it seems to cope with the extra compression, but I doubt it will cope with lights etc, however I think there is a 9ah available.
Not cheap mind as yuasa seems to be the only one stocked by the distributers |

I use a 8ah one on my race bike which runs total loss( no i havent fitted the generator yet rob) and tbh it works and is able to crank the bike fine.
I know sarah(SV650racer) had am prblem restarting her bike last year as the bike got compressionlocked and the battery didnt have enough juice to turn it over but for me so far so good. I know one mintwin rider who used a 3ah battery in his bike and it always started no probs. |

Grinch, do you ever leave yours parked out in the cold and wet overnight? If so, you don't want a titchy battery

You can fit a Hayabusa battery, 12ah but same dimensions as a ytx9

Busas use YT12ABS don't they? That's standard fitment for the curvy SV isn't it
![]() Perhaps a YTZ10S would be an option... 150x87x93, but it still has an 8.6 ah cap and 190A CCA- not much worse than standard but a bit shorter. If you remove the fuse retainer in the curvy you gain a lot of space- I have a taller than standard battery with the fusebox and CDI on top of it and there's still clearance to the seat.

Use a YTZ type, the cold cranking current is better than the other types size for size.
Check dimensions on the yuasa site http://www.yuasabatteries.com/battery_search.asp pick a battery type, you'll get an application list, click "specification" |

Well the battery is for the other SV, so in the winter its going to be on a 'trickle' charger or out of the bike all together. Will have to give the site a good going over.
