Ouch mate...

I quite liked the look of the Caberg (obviously before its 300 yard sprint...)

But the Arai looks tops - I'll go nicely with yer leathers

(As per last nights PM/e-mail on the subject)

Right, well -

Having taken delivery today of a completely unrelated (honest guv) Caberg Trip in matt black with a few barely noticeable scuffs I got it home and promptly dismantled it down to a bare shell.

The foam inner is in perfect condition, although the three tiny glue spots holding it to the shell have come unstuck. It'll need gluing back in.

The shell itself is scuffed although not cracked anywhere. It would appear that the chin bar and visor-holdy-in bits bore the majority of the impact damage. The shell also passed the 'Can I stand on this without it breaking' and 'Can I flex this with as much pressure as I can without it breaking' tests.

The chin bar release and locking mechanism is in perfect working order, as are the visor release mechanism, chin bar hinge mechanism and ventilation mechanisms.

With a new visor, I reckon it will be a perfectly usable, albeit slightly tatty helmet. Having examined the whole construction in minute detail including under UV and plain light, I'd be as happy to put my head in it now as I would be if it was a new mail-order purchase.

The hanging basket plan may have to wait for a while, as I may well try out this lid just as a winter/commuting helmet, because, thanks to a bizarre twist in Mr No-numbers' buying experience, it's my size and not his!

I Hope you'll be very happy together.

Well, I hadn't exactly been looking for another lid... but it seems a shame to hanging basket it just now... I'll see what it's like
