I heard (urban myth alert) that Eurotunnel used to strap down until they had too many fork seals pop when the forks were compressed for so long. Now they don't tie down.

We've used both Norfolk Line and P&O, and both of them were excellent when it came to securing your bike.
As couerdelion says, we also slip our gloves under the strap to prevent marks................saves having to carry them round with you too ![]() We've never used the Tunnel............nowhere to relax or get a drink, and as the Dover-Calais ferry only takes just over an hour anyway, there doesn't seem to be any particular reason to use the Tunnel. Our 10 day return next month cost us £42..................can't grumble at that ![]()

If you are popping across the continent just for the day or one night the time saved with the tunnel can be useful, but agree that if you are doing a longer trip the ferry is probably better for a bit of a break.
