As i said before i dont want to make it into something stupid quick just something useable because to be honest where can you use a bike to 140+ on a uk road, i also want to upgrade things like the brakes to make stopping power a bit better, and what sort of suspension set up should i go for, i dont want to go changing the front forks to something else although i may change the rear if i can get substantal gains from it, i want the sv to sound awsome i like the sound of the quaill and the fuel ones, one of the reasons im buying one is because of the noise and i think it sounds naff with a standard exhaust, this is only my opinion as im a very quiet person but like everything else loud lol. anyone recommend me an exhaust although i dont want to be pulled up all the time!!! thanks

If you dont mind loosing a bit of top end, the TBH just gear it down. That'll give you better acceleration which should make the bike more fun.
Front Suspenion, change the springs ( do a search its been covered loads and loads of times ) and change the fork oil for heavier weight oil. Then not only will you have a better damped front end, it'll also mean you can get more braking power and feel from the existing front brakes. As for the rear shock, I dont know enough to advise, but again use the search function as its a pretty common mod to do to an SV. Exhauts, how much do you want to spend, If you want cheap but good quality, look for Carbon Can Company of Fuel on ebay, if you want to spend a bit moer have a look at a Remus. Theres a specific exhaust sub section towards the bottom of the forum, it has loads of info in it have a read. Link below http://forums.sv650.org/forumdisplay.php?f=137 HTH

The big question is.. . . would you have beaten the poor mans farrari on a quarter of a mile straight?
besides the spyder is the worst one you can buy IMO. i think some of the racers amung us may agree, you can really launch the sv if you get your gearing correct, there is a massive difference in thrust in the first three gears . . possibly forth too if you get your gear shift correct... 0 - 60 . . in seconds on the SV last time i saw one on the Quarter of a mile it pulled in @ about 9 seconds flat, that was standard with a race can. some people put in tens of thousands to get a car that does that . . . My SV cost £4000.00 . . . nuff said lol, ![]() |

1 tooth up on the rear sproket is the difference between 'S' and naked gearing. Most people go up 2 teeth, some 3 with a longer chain. You can drop down 1 tooth on the front, which is equal to 3(approx) up on the rear However, things to bear in mind. If you do any kind of past A road, or motorway riding, then it will raise the rev range, and i at least, found this annoying, as the bike was much more buzzy being about 900rpm higher in top! K&N's, dyno kits, power commanders will only improve mid-top end range. Anyway, how much quicker than 3.5 secs dow you want ffs ![]() |

![]() and you are Correct it was actually 12.35 seconds . . . it was a very mean looking car in the oposite lane that pulled the 9 secs . . feel a bit silly now should of realised !!! ![]() But on a plus note 12 secs is still better than most cars ![]() Last edited by John 675; 04-06-07 at 09:49 AM. |
