I guess I'll have to rely on the other 3 breakdown cover policies I have for the bike then.

3 . At least you can ring them all and see who gets there the quickest

I don't pay 3 policies for the bike. It's just a side effect that I have 3 policies that apply to the bike.

For example, my bank charge me £10/month for the account with them that I have. For that, I get worldwide family travel insurance, and vehicle breakdown cover for me, regardless of what vehicle I'm in. I also get a couple of other benefits from the bank, like cheap electricity.

Should the bike breakdown, I can call customer services at my bank, tell them about it, and they'll send someone (Greenflag) out for me.

The car has breakdown cover on it (paid for the whole 12months before I got the bank account) which applies to me & not just the car too. My bike insurance also has breakdown covered (offered for free, so why not).

Then The AA want to charge me £30 for the years worth of breakdown cover.... No.

They will come down and have a look. Only problem is that they may notice that the oil level is well below the minimum mark. Can find out though if you want!.
Suzuki will pay out if the bike goes wrong and it is found to be their fault! Like any of the Motorcycle Makes.

but if you run your bike out of Oil and it seizes its tough!

I had both my cam chains rattling 2 months before i could get my new bike (XJR1300) and i had to shell out to get them replaced because i had done my own servicing and not paid a Suzuki Dealership to do it! and the bike was under 2 years old. Lessons Learnt

And the moral of the story is "If your engine goes pop, make sure you top up with used engine oil to the correct level before you get it to the dealers, and then play dumb"

The customer may play dumb but suzuki wont!. Not that many go pop under the warranty period. They will inspect it as they know as well as we do most of those that go pop on the road are due to low oil levels.

I saw a really weird thing yesterday, some bloke with a Divvy 600 was complaining about a wrecked clutch. When the clutch came out the centre was bone dry and there was a lot of rust on anything steel in there too.

Now this is a wet clutch, with oil splashing around it all the time...so how the hell did anything remotely ferrous rust?

I've had a bike come back from a service without any oil in it.
It took me a while to realise and when I took it back they blamed me. Said that it had been used by the engine and I should have been checking it.

Now at the time I was a mechanical numpty. However in the first 600 miles the bike hadn't used all it's oil so I don't think it suddenly decided started using it in the next 200 miles. Fortunately it was the CG and so damage was limited and it's done 20k fine since.

I've checked with Suzuki GB and as long as the bike has been serviced in accordance with their schedules and using genuine parts and filters then the warranty is fine, I suppose doing it yourself isn't quite the same in their eyes.

Interestingly the dealer has said that due to low mileage of my bike doing the 7500 service which would normally be due at 2 years is unecessary and so oil, filters and brake fluid change with a check over will suffice. Will still cost me £150 though which seems quite steep.

Throw another £10 at that, and around here you'd get a 14k service, including valve check (and that's assuming it needs brake pads etc).

I'd be going somewhere else for such a basic check over.
