i was brought up around bikes my whole life.
have always went or been took (when younger) to road races over here, UGP, NW200 etc and always loved bikes.
my dad had bikes when i was younger which i went on as pillion.
have rode motox (on & off - literally) since my teens but only passed my road test in october 05.
like somebody said previously, its the freedom of the bike which attracts me.
Just me, the bike & open road....no-one or nothing else. (apart from maniac car drivers!)
its simple,
i use the car, i enjoy the bike.....

Definitely for the fun. Which is the reason I now have a car too. I spent about 6 or 7 years bike-only and started getting grumpy at how my bikes got manky and how cold and wet I'd get.

Someone said to me you should never ride a bike because you have to, only because you choose to. I'm sure it doesn't apply to everyone, but I've found it does to me.

Now, every time I get on my bike its because I have chosen to, so it feels like a real privilege and I can *really* enjoy it

For fun! A little bit of independance...it's something I can enjoy on my own, but also the social side of things

Only bcause iam forced to:-
forced to save 40 mins every morning getting to work
forced to save another 40 mins getting home
forced to be away from the phone
forced to filter throuh traffic
forced to accelerate past virtually anything on the road
forced to enjoy cornering
forced to meet some very friendly people

yep - iam forced to do it.

I ride cos i like the noise of my bike when i get the revs up to 8000rpm and then roll off the throttle

and because i dont have any other personal mode of transport, even my legs refuse to work

I've been riding since I was 17 (which is a long time ago). I have very rarely been without a bike in all those years. I ride 7 days a week whatever the weather (except snow) and I still love it as much today as i did when I had a go on the back of a mates GT250 and he told me I was the worst pillion he had ever taken
I do have a car, but am thinking of selling it because it sits outside my house not used for months on end (it's done about 600 miles this year). The bike covers about 1000 miles a month.
I also wanted to pass on my knowledge onto other novice riders, so became a CBT instructor 7 years ago, just another excuse to ride bikes (& get paid a pittance for it), but if it introduces more people to bikes I will keep doing it.

I think that it is the feeling of being at 1 with the bike (having to lean into bends, getting the speed right etc) that sets it above driving a car plus you are on your own, just you & the bike. It's like a drug, I need more of it
Now I'm starting to sound like a bit of a wierdo so I'm going to shut up
But thats why I ride bikes.
