A friend of mine broke her leg skiing, and after 8 weeks in plaster there was no healing, the consultant said this was because she wasn't putting enough weight on it, therefore the two ends weren't touching so they couldn't knit.

You could try compressing the break axially with a bandage and see if it helps.

Get well soon,
Rob

I wish it was so simple, I can't put weight on it, the break is right on my shoulder, the upper arm where the ball goes into the shoulder socket, sp I need my arm to hang to pull the bone downwards, well my arm has been hanging for 2 months LOL, maybe I need a heavier arm LOL.

Going to try arnica and a few chinese remedies, see if another approach can get my bones sticky.

I had no sleep last night, I kept hearing the Surgeom saying the bad things, like IF it mends, and I may loose use movement wise...... why do we never focus on the good things, not that he said anything good.

Hope your bone starts to bend Kwak, sure it will with time and manipulation with P/T.

As for PAWS - I am looking now for 2 suitable cows with Super milk for us.

Went to physio today and learnt alot more from them than the surgeon.

I must have landed on my elbow when I had my off, which has in turn pushed my arm up into the shoulder breaking the humerous head pushing the arm bone it into the head, so my bone is inside the other keeping it in pace, hence less pain than before.

It is not healing because my shoulder has been pushed forward, and because I have not used my arm for 2 months I have major muscle wastage, my shoulder blade muscle is not pulling my shoulder back and hence my shoulder won't go back to place.

So when I mentioned my abnormal shoulder 4 weeks ago to the dr's it appears I knew more than them hee hee.

2 weeks of physio before I go back, I am doing my exercises whilst drinking milk and eating cheese LOL

I came off my bike in August and smashed my right wrist to bits, end of the radius was in 9 pieces. Two operations, enough stainless steel to open a small hardware shop and 6 weeks in plaster thankfully saw the bone back in one piece. I must admit though I was worried about it not healing due to the severity of the damage and would have contacted these people here
http://www.physioclinic.net/index.html
had the bone not started growing. No personal experience of them but if they treat people like John Reynolds then they must be worth a look. Reading through the case studies on the web site they seem to be able to get bones to start knitting when convention treatment is not working.

Not saying this is the route you should take just something else you should perhaps consider. Sure it'll probably cost a lot of money but at the end of the day you can't put a price on health.

My thoughts are with everyone out there with broken bodies, get well soon one and all.

cheers

Stewart

All the best for you m'dear.
I've had to do physio on broken leg bones, it's not as uncommon and you'd first think.

If the limb/area/etc isn't 'used', apart from the obvious stiffness and muscle wastage, you get a lack of blood circulation = all those good things that get carried along with it.

Good blood supply is essential for healing, and by simple movement and light exercise you encourage it in that specific area.

It's a pain , but will do you good eventually.

As for Doc's constantly harping on about the worst possible scenario - well - if it happens at least you are prepared, but I think it's mostly done so you can feel smug when you actually achieve most that they say. That positive boost then helps you achieve more etc etc.
