took test a few months back, it was like an exagerated ride, everything exagerated, like the checks, all that kept going though my head (apart form what the f**k you doing this for) was MIA mirrors, indicate, accelarate!!!...

just breath and enjoy the ride...

30th September, twas a truly amazing date. Was all about time management. I deliberately chose that time too, the centre is on a major road that leads to the M3 junction - always a popular route at that time of the morning .

It was all about "time management" for me

I knew as soon as we rolled into the test centre that there was a queue coming out, regardless of whether its a left or a right turn. We literally turned right and then stopped.

If I recall on both tests I joined a queue where people had stopped to give way to me - which now I think about it may not have been a good idea. I know that when you do a car test you should never accept that, and always ignore people who flash/wave you etc. I was OK anyway.

Also - check the DSA website and take a good look through the test centre routes - make sure you know em all, just in case?

Well can't vouch for some of the methods on here, but certainly found myself telling myself that I needed to check turn-signal was off, and telling myself that I needed to do my "lifesavers" ... the rest of it was, well ... "just there"

Oh and as everyone else has said, take your time on your manoeuvres ... the examiner doesn't mind how long you take, as long as you complete them in a not unreasonable time, and you do so safely. In fact, if anything ... hope that a car comes BEFORE you start the U-turn - then you can face forward run thru a perfect u-turn in your mind, then check over your shoulder again and BEGIN

Good luck

Pete

I took my test a very long time ago when it was a twice round the block, if you dont fall off you pass, therefore I'm not sure if still relevent. I'll pass it on anyway.

My instructor at the time pointed out the examiner can only use head movement as a clue to mirror check, he can't see your eyes. To ensure sufficent head movement he suggested that you align your mirrors correctly, then nudge them a tiny bit out thus forcing an exagerated head movement.

Good Luck

I'll do the mirror thing you suggested, I can see how that would be a big help. Test is tomorrow so I'll report back.

Good luck pal.

Just chill out, take your time and make sure you move your head when you check blindspots etc.

Same ere, I was told to slighlty over emphasise using me mirrors by moving them out as well, did the same with me hgv as well but dont go over the top either or he/she may assume you,re only concentrating on one area of your riding, good luck with it, you,ll be fine

i was a wreck when i took my test 2 months ago, i thought i failed when i locked the back wheel and skidded due to going from 3rd to first by mistake due to nerves, i had never ever done that before that day lol. practice practice and practice i got up at 5am to do some more and had a hour training before the test. but really its not that hard just take your time. and the examiner isnt a ogor, my one was a nice bloke. i passed even though i thought i had failed due to no confidence , i got 4 miners .
good luck mate
